Picture a designer, hunched over their desk, eyes fixed on the screen. Their mind brims with innovative ideas, yet their hands are busy with mundane tasks - searching for inspiration, tweaking wireframes, or painstakingly crafting design systems. This scene, replicated in countless studios and offices worldwide, represents both the passion and the pain points of the modern design process.

The global design industry is ripe for disruption. With over 3 million UI/UX designers worldwide spending countless hours on research and repetitive tasks, the need for innovation in design workflows has never been more pressing. Figr steps into this breach, offering a solution that could redefine how designers work.

Let's delve into how Figr came to be, why we at Antler are excited about its potential, and how it plans to transform the design landscape.

From Concept to Reality: The Figr Journey

Figr's journey began when Moksh Garg, a product designer with a passion for automation, joined Antler's Residency. Fresh from his first startup experience and eager to explore new ideas, Moksh found himself experimenting with AI chatbots, recommendation systems, and various web and mobile applications. It was during this period of exploration that he reconnected with Chirag Singla, a former colleague and skilled machine learning engineer.

The duo's complementary skills – Moksh's design expertise and Chirag's technical prowess – proved to be the perfect combination for tackling a problem they both intimately understood: the time-consuming nature of design processes. Their shared experiences in product development led them to a crucial realization: a significant portion of a designer's time was spent not on creative tasks, but on research, repetitive actions, and non-creative work.

This insight became the foundation of Figr. Within just 12 weeks, Figr had built a proprietary database of over 100,000 designs and attracted 5,000+ user signups. This rapid traction validated their core hypothesis: designers were hungry for tools that could automate the grunt work and amplify their creativity. The Antler Residency provided the perfect environment for Moksh and Chirag to refine their idea, gather user feedback, and rapidly iterate on their product.

Investing in Figr

Our conviction to invest in Figr is driven by several compelling factors:

  • Moksh and Chirag's combined experience in product design and AI uniquely positions them to tackle the challenges in the design industry.
  • The design discoverability space has seen little innovation since Dribbble's launch in 2009. Figr's AI-powered approach represents a significant leap forward.
  • By seamlessly integrating with popular tools like Figma, Figr enhances existing workflows, allowing designers to find inspiration more efficiently, prototype rapidly, and create comprehensive design systems in days rather than months.
  • With 25,000+ design file downloads and 2,500+ weekly active users (30% from the US and 35% from the EU) in just three months, Figr has demonstrated strong product-market fit.

Reshaping the Design Landscape

Looking ahead, Figr aims to evolve into a comprehensive design tool that covers the entire process from research to development. The team envisions a future where the lines between designer and developer blur, with Figr acting as a catalyst for this transformation. They're focusing on deepening their AI integration, expanding team collaboration features, and developing robust enterprise solutions.

Nitin Sharma, Partner at Antler India, adds: "In Figr, we see more than just a design tool. We see a catalyst for a new era of creativity. By automating the mundane, Figr is empowering designers to push the boundaries of innovation. In a world where design is increasingly crucial to product success, we believe Figr has the potential to become an indispensable part of the global design ecosystem."

As Figr continues to grow and innovate, they're not just building a company – they're potentially redefining how products are conceived and created.
